CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas (30-23, 17-11) secured a 4–1 victory over Lipscomb University (24-24, 17-11) on Thursday night at Bear Stadium. Central Arkansas capitalized on a three-run second inning to establish an early lead, which it maintained throughout the game.
Central Arkansas started strong in the first inning.
Nate Negre walked and advanced to third on a ground out. Negre then scored on a wild pitch, putting Central Arkansas up 1–0 through the first inning.
In the second inning, Central Arkansas extended its lead.
Keaton Laidley doubled to right center, followed by
Mark Ross doubling to left, bringing Laidley home.
Jack Runsick added an RBI single, scoring Ross. Runsick later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Zeb Allen. The inning concluded with Central Arkansas leading 4–0.
Lipscomb responded in the sixth inning. After loading the bases, Pruitt singled to right field, scoring Miles. However, Central Arkansas maintained its lead at 4–1 through six innings.
Central Arkansas held the Bisons scoreless for the final three innings, securing a 4–1 victory.
Denver Hamilton delivered a solid performance for Central Arkansas, pitching 6 innings with 7 hits allowed, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Hamilton is now 8-0 on the season for the Bears.
Silas Cowgill contributed with a scoreless inning, giving up 1 hit, walking 1, and striking out 2.
Hunter Alexander secured his 11th save of the season, striking out 4 in 2 innings while allowing just 1 hit and no walks. With this save, Alexander tied the UCA single-season saves record, he set the career saves record earlier in the season.
