Preview: Bears Ready to Defend ASUN Championship

Valdosta, Ga.- The 2026 ASUN Men's Golf Championship is set to be played April 21-23 at Kinderlou Forest CC in Valdosta, Ga. Last year the 2025 ASUN Championship also took place at Kinderlou Forest CC where the Bears claimed their first conference championship in men's golf  since they won the AIC Championship in 1972. Last year, after round one the Bears had built an 8 stroke lead, after day two the Bears still had a 4 stroke lead and after the final round the Bears had won the title by one stroke over Stetson. Noah Blaickner had the best score for the Bears at last years championship, tied for 2nd overall. Jack Wilson also placed in the top 10 finishing in a tie for 6th place. Four members of last years championship team return for this year's run at another title; Wilson, Bogdan Sandrini, Vukasin Suturovic and Leo Isserentant. Cohen Kinnard and Sam Norman will join the returns for this year's run at the title.

The Bears had several good events during the 2025-26 season. In September they won the Grover Page Classic in Memphis, Tenn. by 14 strokes. They also had a 4th place finish at the GMAC, a 3rd place finish at the Bentwater Intercollegiate and a 5th place finish at the Gulf Coast Collegiate.

Coach Josh Turnock, "This group has worked hard all year, and they know what it takes to compete for a championship. Being back at Kinderlou Forest Golf Clun, where we had success last year, gives us a level of familiarity and confidence and brings back those positive memories. We're excited for the opportunity to compete and defend our ASUN Championship."

Every team in the ASUN Championship field competed in approximately 10 events this season. Based on the points accumulated throughout the season, the ASUN teams rank as follows. FGCU (1), Stetson (2), North Alabama (3), Lipscomb (4), North Florida (5), Jacksonville (6), Central Arkansas (7), Eastern Kentucky (8), Austin Peay (9), Queens (10), West Georgia (11), and Bellarmine (12).
