NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Central Arkansas (17-17, 6-7) defeated Lipscomb University (14-16, 7-6) with a decisive 12–6 victory on Friday at Ken Dugan Field. Central Arkansas sealed the game with a five-run eighth inning, supported by two home runs in the contest.
Central Arkansas faced an early deficit after Lipscomb scored three runs in the second inning. Mahan scored on a double by Thomas, followed by a sac fly from Miles and an RBI single by Miller. Through two innings, Lipscomb led 3–0.
Central Arkansas responded in the fourth when
Nate Negre walked, advanced to third on a single by
Jagger Schattle, and scored on a sac fly by
Jack Runsick, narrowing the gap to 3–1.
In the fifth inning, the Bears seized momentum with a four-run surge.
Keaton Laidley singled and scored on Negre's RBI single, followed by Schattle's three-run homer, giving Central Arkansas a 5–3 lead. Lipscomb managed one run in their half of the inning, making it 5–4.
Mark Ross extended Central Arkansas's lead with a solo homer in the sixth, pushing the score to 6–4.
The eighth inning saw the Bears capitalize on an error and timely hitting, adding five runs. Negre highlighted the inning with a three-RBI double, increasing the lead to 11–4. Lipscomb countered with a two-run homer by Thomas, but Central Arkansas maintained an 11–6 advantage.
Central Arkansas added one more run in the ninth when Runsick scored after a single by Laidley. The final score was Central Arkansas 12, Lipscomb 6.
