LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Central Arkansas (9-7, 0-0) fell to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (8-7,0-0) 7-2 on Sunday at Gary Hogan Field. This was game 3 of a 3 game series, with LR winning the series 2-1. The Bears managed six hits, but a three-run sixth inning from the Trojans proved decisive.
Central Arkansas and Little Rock both scored two runs in the first inning.
Parker Gwyn singled to right field and stole second base, followed by
Zeb Allen walking.
Jack Runsick then doubled to left field, driving in both Gwyn and Allen. Little Rock's Cade Martin and Easton Roe scored on a single by Ty Rhoades, tying the game at 2-2 after the first inning.
In the second inning, Little Rock edged ahead when Jerdy Lopez scored on a single by Martin, giving Little Rock a 3-2 lead through two innings.
The sixth inning saw the Trojans extend their lead. Lopez walked and scored on a double by Kade Smith. Martin then doubled to bring Smith home. Roe singled to score Martin, increasing Little Rock's lead to 6-2 after six innings.
In the eighth inning, Little Rock added one more run when Smith walked, stole second, and scored on a double by Angel Cano. Little Rock led 7-2 through eight innings.
The game concluded with the Trojans securing a 7-2 victory over the Bears.
