Bears Drop Mid-Week Game at #4 Razorbacks

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Central Arkansas (13-12, 3-3) lost to No. 4 University of Arkansas (19-7, 4-2) with a final score of 15-2 on Tuesday at Baum-Walker Stadium.   

The Bears held the lead through four innings but then the Razorbacks surged with a 10-run fifth inning,.

UCA took an early lead in the second inning when Zeb Allen walked, stole second, and scored on Jagger Schattle's RBI single through the right side. The Bears led 1-0 at the end of the second inning.

In the third inning, Allen extended UCA's lead with a solo home run to right center, making the score 2-0.

Arkansas responded in the fourth inning with a solo home run by Stewart, narrowing the gap to 2-1.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the fifth inning. Arkansas scored ten runs on six hits, including a grand slam by Pompey and a two-run double by Niu, taking an 11-2 lead.

Arkansas added four more runs in the sixth inning, featuring a three-run homer by Rutenbar and a solo shot by Pompey, setting the score at 15-2.

Jacob Pannell pitched 4 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 5 and issuing 4 walks. Jake Jones faced 4 batters without recording an out, surrendering 4 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks. Austin Jones managed to secure one out but gave up 2 runs on 2 hits, including a home run. JB Williams pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 2 hits, with 2 strikeouts and no walks, but gave up 2 home runs.
