Coach Harlan Gets 100, Bears Win Series 2-1

CONWAY, Ark. — Central Arkansas (7-5) secured a 9-3 victory over South Dakota State University (4-7) on Sunday at Bear Stadium. This win was Head Coach Nick Harlan's, 100th win as Head Bear at UCA. Central Arkansas broke the game open with a six-run eighth inning, capitalizing on the Jackrabbits' three errors.

Central Arkansas took an early lead in the first inning when Zeb Allen reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to third on a single by Jack Runsick, scoring on a throwing error for an unearned run. The score was 1-0 after the first inning.

The fifth inning saw South Dakota State tie the game at 2-2. A single and a walk loaded the bases, and RBIs from Wachter and Taylor brought in two runs. In the bottom half, the Bears responded as Zach Adams singled and Jagger Schattle hit a two-run homer to right field, reclaiming the lead at 3-2 through five innings.

In the eighth inning, South Dakota State narrowed the lead with a solo homer from Taylor, making it 3-3. However, Central Arkansas broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the inning. Jayden Sloan singled, and after a series of walks and a hit-by-pitch, Landon Carter's RBI fielder's choice triggered the scoring. Parker Gwyn was hit by a pitch to score another, followed by a two-RBI single from Adams. An error allowed another run, and Sloan's sacrifice fly added the final run of the inning, extending the lead to 9-3 through eight innings.

Central Arkansas held the Jackrabbits scoreless in the ninth inning to secure a 9-3 victory.
