OZARK, MO - The Beach Bears closed out the Beach Bear Bash on Friday with a pair of losses, failing to Missouri State in the morning before coming up just short against Eastern Kentucky in the afternoon. 

Missouri State 5, UCA 0
Missouri State earned the first point of the dual on court two, defeating Ella Layzell and Anna Jaworski, 21-17, 21-10. 

The lead grew to 2-0 after a 21-17, 21-15 decision on court four over Brooke Sharp and Chandler Lawrence. Missouri State added another straight-set win on court three, topping Madelyn White and Allison Heck 21-17, 21-5.

The dual was clinched on court one, where Anna Linskey and Natalie Blum fell 21-9, 21-14. Court five wrapped up the match with a 21-14, 21-19 decision over Ella Weilert and Reegan Siewert.

Order of Finish: 2, 4, 3, 1, 5

In the tournament finale, the Beach Bears battled Eastern Kentucky in a tightly contested dual that came down to the final points.

Eastern Kentucky claimed the opening point on court one in a marathon three-set match. Anna Linskey and Natalie Blum took the first set 21-19, but EKU rallied for a 21-17 second set and edged out a 19-17 decision in the third.

EKU extended its lead to 2-0 with a 21-19, 21-12 win on court two, followed by another narrow straight-set victory on court three, 21-19, 21-18.

UCA responded on the bottom courts. Ella Weilert and Chandler Lawrence secured a 21-17, 21-12 win on court four to put the Beach Bears on the board.

Liliana Irizary and Audrey Cathcart closed the day with a gritty three-set victory on court five, bouncing back after dropping the second set to earn a 21-15, 17-21, 15-12 win.

The Beach Bears conclude the Beach Bear Bash after four matches in two days and will look to regroup as they prepare to head to Belton, Texas for UMHB Spring Break Bash on March 6-7.
