Conway, Ark.- The University of Central Arkansas Bears (18-11, 13-2) are headed to Tennessee for an ASUN match-up with the Austin Peay Governors (21-6, 15-1) on Wednesday, tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The Bears and Governors have played six times since 2023, and the Governors have won all but one of those games. Last season the Governors won both match-ups, first in Conway by two and then in Clarksville by 23. This year they will just play each other once. AP is in first place in the ASUN standing and the Bears are right behind them in second. With a win, the Bears still have a chance to be co-ASUN champions if they also beat Queens on Saturday and AP loses again on Saturday at Bellarmine. If AP wins one more game, they will be the ASUN regular season champions.
Last time out, the Bears dropped an overtime game at FGCU. It was just the third ASUN loss of the season for the Bears. All three losses have come in overtime and on the road. The loss also ended an amazing, program record, 11 game winning streak. Against the Eagles,
Ty Robinson had another double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Camren Hunter scored 24 points and had 6 rebounds. This performance, along with his production at Stetson earlier in the week earn Hunter ASUN Player of the week honors. As a team in ASUN games the Bears are scoring 83 points a game while shooting 47% from the field, 37% from 3-point range and 74% from the free throw line.
The Governors won two games last week by an average of 3 points, two of their closest contests of the ASUN season at UNF and at Jacksonville. Both games were also two of their poorest shooting games of the ASUN season with their shooting percentages well below their season averages. The Governors, on senior night, will be looking to make it an undefeated home season at 13-0. Parker Collin leads AP scoring 19.7 points and geting 6.1 rebounds per ASUN game. As a team in ASUN games the Governors are scoring 82.5 points per game while shooting 48% from the field, 37% from 3-point range and 76% from the free throw line.
Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tenn. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, The Bear 91.3 and Jack 92.7 or you can follow live stats online.
