Conway, Ark.- The University of Central Arkansas Bears (7-8, 2-0) will go on the road for two ASUN match-ups this week. On Thursday, January 8th the Bears take on the Knights of Bellarmine (5-9, 0-2) at 6 p.m. CT. in Louisville, Kentucky. Then on Saturday, January 10
th they will take on the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky University (4-11, 0-2) in Richmond, Kentucky at 3 p.m. CT.
The Bears started the ASUN season 2-0 last week with wins over FGCU and Stetson. This was the first time since the 2021-2022 season that the Bears started Conference play 2-0. Both of the wins last week were at home, now the Bears look to take their success on the road. So far this season the Bears are without a win on the road, however most of those road games were against nationally ranked opponents. During the current two-game win streak,
Ty Robinson leads the Bears in scoring with 23.5 points per game, 27 against FGCU and 20 against Stetson. For the season he is averaging 14.7 points, while grabbing 5.3 rebounds and giving 2 assists per game.
Camren Hunter also started off the Conference season well, scoring an average of 19 points in the first two games. For the season he is averaging 16.9 points per game. The Bears scored an average of 89 points in their first two ASUN Conference games shooting 51% from the field, 40% from 3pt range and 79% from the free throw line.
The Knights are coming off back-to-back road losses to the University of West Georgia and Queens University of Charlotte in their first two ASUN games of the season. The game against West Georgia came down to the wire, losing by 2 but the game against Queens was a 22-point blow-out loss. Jack Karasinski is leading the Knights in scoring overall this season with 21.3 points per game and in ASUN games he is scoring 22.5 points per game. As a team in their two ASUN games the Knights are scoring an average of 80.5 points per game while shooting 55% from the field, 39% from 3 pt range and 68% from the free throw line.
The Colonels are also coming off back-to-back losses to West Georgia and Queens. They opened the ASUN season at Queens losing by 2 before dropping the game at West Georgia by 12 in their second ASUN game of the season. Juan Cranford Jr. is leading the team in points with 13.1 points per game and in their two ASUN games he is scoring 16 points per game. As a team in ASUN play the Colonels are scoring 82.5 points per game, shooting 46% from the field, 36% from 3pt range and 64% from the free throw line.
