Preview: Bears Host EKU on Saturday

Conway, Ark.- The University of Central Arkansas Bears (11-10, 6-2) are in the Farris Center for an ASUN match-up with the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (7-15, 3-6) on Saturday afternoon, tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. These two teams played in Kentucky earlier this month, the Colonels came out on top in overtime. Both teams shot 43% from the field but the Colonels shot 42% from 3-point range while the Bears shot 30%. Camren Hunter scored 25 points including a jumper with 4 seconds left in regulation to send it to overtime. Since then, the Bears haven't lost, going 4-0 in ASUN games including two road wins at UWG and Queens.

Last time out, the Bears knocked off Queens in Charlotte 100-90, Queens was tied for first place in the ASUN standings. This was the first time the Bears have ever scored 100 points against an ASUN opponent. Camren Hunter had a season high 31 points, taking over the game in the second half while going 12-18 from the field and 4-6 from 3-point range in the game. Four other Bears scored in double digits with Luke Moore and Cole McCormick going for 19, Javion Guy-King had 13 and Ty Robinson had 11 while going 3-3 from 3-point range in the 2nd half. In ASUN games the Bears are scoring 85 points a game while shooting 48% from the field, 37% from 3-point range and 78% from the free throw line.
 
The Colonels have lost three in a row and are just 1-4 since their overtime win over the Bears. During the losing streak they lost at home to Austin Peay by 8 points, in overtime at Jacksonville and at UNF by two. In the first match-up with the Bears, Juan Cranford Jr led the team with 20 points while Austin Ball scored 18. Montavious Myrick is leading the team in ASUN games averaging 13.4 points per game. As a team the Colonels are scoring 82 points per game while shooting 47% from the floor, 39% from 3-point range and 71% from the free throw line in ASUN games.

Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. in the Farris Center. The men's game will be the second half of a double header, the Sugar Bears will play the Stetson Hatters at 1 p.m. Both games will be a part of our "Pink Out" promotion, sponsored by Conway Regional Health System.
