Preview: Bears on the Road for Two at UWG and UNA

Conway, Ark.- The University of Central Arkansas Bears (9-10, 4-2) will go on the road for two ASUN match-ups this week. On Thursday, January 22nd the Bears take on the West Georgia Wolves (9-9, 3-3) at 6 p.m. CT. in Carrollton, GA. Then on Saturday, January 24th the Bears will take on the North Alabama Lions (6-11, 1-5) in Florence, Ala. at 6 p.m. CT. The Bears played both teams home and away last season, beating West Georgia in both match-ups but lost both games against North Alabama.
 
The Bears won two ASUN games last week in the Farris Center moving their record to 4-2. This is their best start to ASUN play since they moved into the ASUN in the 2021-2022 season. The Bears had a big come from behind win against Jacksonville in their first game last week, 62-60. The Bears were down by 15 in the second half before they made their comeback. Luke Moore had a career day finishing with 19 points while going 3-3 from 3-point range. Camren Hunter tied his season high with 26 points in the second game last week as the Bears dominated UNF 98-69. This was the Bears largest margin of victory in a conference game since 2016. The Bears are now 9-1 at home this season while averaging a 26.8-point margin of victory in those 9 wins. This week the Bears are back on the road where they have not won a game this season. The Bears two losses in ASUN play came on the road, both of those games went to Overtime. So far in ASUN play the Bears are scoring 81.8 points per game while shooting 45% from the field, 34.6% from 3-point range and 77% from the free throw line.
 
The Wolves are on a 3-game losing streak, all 3 of those losses came on the road and were by an average of 20 points. However, the Wolves are 2-0 in ASUN games at home. The Wolves have three players averaging in double digits in ASUN games. Shelton Williams-Dryden is scoring 25.7 points per game, Josh Smith with 17.3 and Malcolm Noel with 10.5. As a team in ASUN games the Wolves are scoring 76.8 points per game while shooting 44% from the field, 29% from 3-point range and 75% from the free throw line.
 
The Lions are on a 2-game losing streak, losing at home to UNF and JU last week and have won just one ASUN game so far this season. In their six ASUN games the Lions are losing by an average of 9 points. Canin Jefferson is averaging 16.5 points per game in ASUN games while Corneilous Williams is averaging 15.2. As a team in ASUN games the Lions are scoring 73.8 points per game while shooting 46.6% from the field, 32.5% from 3-point range and 68.6% from the free throw line.
