CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas volleyball continued its strong start to conference action with a
3-0 sweep over Austin Peay on Sunday afternoon inside the Prince Center. The win moved the Sugar Bears to
5-7 overall and
2-0 in ASUN play, while the Governors fell to
2-11, 0-2 ASUN.
UCA set the tone early, racing out to a 22-7 lead in the opening frame before closing the set 25-11. The second set was tighter, but a 6-0 mid-set run gave the Sugar Bears control and they held off a late push from Austin Peay to take it 25-19.
The third set saw the biggest test of the day. Austin Peay built a commanding 17-10 advantage, but Central Arkansas responded out of a timeout with an 8-1 run to even the score. The two sides traded points late, but a timely block from Samantha Cousins and Karlyn Frazier helped the Sugar Bears edge out a 26-24 victory to complete the sweep.
