Women's Soccer Set for Governor's I-40 Showdown on Sunday

CONWAY, Ark. – Back in action after Thursday's match was rained out, the Central Arkansas women's soccer team is at Little Rock on Sunday, taking on the Trojans in the Governor's I-40 Showdown. Kickoff in Little Rock is set for 6 p.m.

The Bears (2-2) returned home after defeating Sacramento State 1-0 to close the trip to the Islands. Trace Pavatt tallied the lone score in the win, giving the Bears the lead early in the second half. Pavatt now is tied for team-lead with two goals this year. Hanna Hargrave played in goal against the Hornets, making eight saves and picking up her first shutout in Purple and Gray.

Last time the Bears and Trojans met, it was in Conway, where Central Arkansas fell in a heartbreaker. After playing for 87 scoreless minutes, Little Rock tallied two goals in the final minutes to capture the victory.

This season's Little Rock squad is 1-2 overall, with a lone win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and losses to East Texas A&M and ULM, whom the Bears defeated already this season. Last time out, against ULM, the Trojans scored first, notching a goal in the first ten minutes before surrendering two unanswered scores in the first half to drop the 2-1 final.

Little Rock scored seven goals against UAPB, marking seven of the nine scores this year against the Golden Lions. Maggie Turner, who scored two against UAPB, leads the team with three goals.

The Bears and Trojans will meet in the Governor's I-40 Showdown at 6 p.m. on Sunday. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online.
