TULSA, Okla. – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team battled for a scoreless 70 minutes before finally surrendering one to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, ultimately falling 1-0 in the road match.
 
The Bears (0-3) held on as long as possible, repelling attack after attack, dodging bullet after bullet, but the home team finally found one late, from which Central Arkansas couldn't recover. Elijah Bishop was magnificent in the match, keeping the Bears' defense organized and potent throughout the match, and had a quality look late on the other side as the Bears tried to equalize.
 
Tulsa applied pressure on offense from the outset, letting loose on multiple shots in the first five minutes. Central Arkansas finally countered as the clock passed ten minutes, as Lucas Shearer put one on target that forced a save. Vaclav Kozeny, the goal-scorer from the previous match, also took a shot at the 15-minute mark, but shot it wide.
 
Scoreless at half, the sides continued to battle in the midfield, with long balls sailing into attacking thirds, only to be punched back into space. Kozeny nearly scored in the 53^rd minute, evading the keeper and lifting one netward, but a defender came streaking in and flicked it out just before it passed into the goal, keeping the game in a stalemate.
 
Finally, Tulsa found a score in the 71^st minute, and despite a couple of late looks by the Bears, the score remained the difference. Bishop put his head on a corner kick with just minutes to go, but his attempt went high of the net.
 
The Bears are off for a week before hitting the road once more, taking on Missouri State on September 7^th in Springfield.
