RICHMOND, Ky. _ A huge eighth-inning rally carried the Eastern Kentucky Colonels to a 9-5 victory over the University of Central Arkansas Bears in Sunday's ASUN series finale at Earle Combs Stadium.

The Bears (18-27, 11-13) had a 5-0 lead after four innings but the Colonels (10-38, 7-17) exploded for nine runs in the eighth inning off just six hits. EKU sent 12 batters to the plate and scored nine earned runs off three different UCA pitchers.

The Bears opened the game with a bang, scoring three times in the first inning. Keon Moseni had a lead off walk and scored on Zeb Allen's triple to center field. Allen then came in on Preston Curtis' second home run in as many days, a two-run shot to left field.

UCA added two more in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Moseni and Allen. But the Bears would not score again, and ended up striking out 12 times against a trio of EKU pitchers.

The Bears actually out-hit the Colonels 11-8. Moseni, Allen, Curtis and Carter Alexander had two hits apiece, while Allen and Curtis had two RBI each.

Burkley Bounds got the victory in relief for EKU, while Perry Titlow took the loss for the Bears.

UCA is scheduled to play at Little Rock at 6 p.m. Tuesday, weather permitting, before returning to the road for an ASUN series at Austin Peay on Friday.
