Jacksonville, Fla. – Central Arkansas Track & Field wasted no time making its presence known at the 2025 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with both the men's and women's teams finishing Day 1 atop the team standings at Hodges Stadium on the campus of North Florida.
On the women's side, the Bears lead all teams with 52 points through four events, fueled by standout performances in the field. Joia Perry shattered the ASUN Championship and facility record in the hammer throw, launching a massive 62.89 meters to win gold. In the javelin, Jennifer Peake claimed another first-place finish for UCA with a throw of 43.84 meters. Davin James added a key third-place result in the high jump (1.64m), helping the Bears build a solid team lead heading into Day 2.
The men's team mirrored that momentum, tallying 42 points through three events to take command of the standings. Central Arkansas swept the podium in the hammer throw, with Malik Beasley (62.56m), Treavor Green (62.01m), and Jaden Schneeberger (61.29m) locking out the top three spots. In the pole vault, Sloan Jones added a silver medal performance after clearing 4.57 meters.
With a dominant display in the throws and key podium finishes across field events, the Bears head into Day 2 with confidence and momentum. Championship action resumes Friday at 8:00 a.m. ET with the conclusion of the heptathlonand decathlon, along with a full slate of track and field events.
