CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears pounded out 13 hits, including three doubles and two triples, in cruising past the Bellarmine Knights 11-4 in their ASUN series opener on Friday night at Bear Stadium.
UCA used a five-run sixth inning to blow the game open. The Bears sent 11 batters to the plate and got six hits in the frame, with runs batted in by
Jake Trabbie,
Tanner Leonard,
Keon Moseni,
Nathan Negre and
Preston Curtis.
UCA added two more in the eighth inning on a two-run single by Schattle, who finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored. UCA opened the scoring with a run in the first on Curtis' double to left field that scored
Zeb Allen.
The Bears added two more in the second on a triple to left center by Leonard and a throwing error on the play that allowed him to score to make it 3-0.
Zeb Allen, who went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored, tripled in the third and scored on a wild pitch.Â

Hunter Alexander went 7.1 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs and striking out a pair.
Aden Velasquez pitched the final 1.2 , allowing 2 hits and 1 unearned run. Bellarmine starter Chase Carver took the loss, allowing 8 earned runs in 5.1 innings.
Curtis, Schattle and Leonard all had two hits and two RBIs for the Bears.
Game 2 of the series has been moved up to 2 p.m. Saturday to avoid possible weather issues in the early evening.Â
