TRANSFER BOLDEN JOINS UCA BASKETBALL

CONWAY, Ark. _ Mississippi College transfer Rashad Bolden is joining the University of Central Arkansas Bears men's basketball program for his senior season, according to head coach John Shulman.

Bolden is a 6-foot, 180-pound guard from Jackson, Miss. who played the past two seasons at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. He averaged 24.3 points as a junior, ranking eighth in the nation in Division II, with a career-high of 41 points. Bolden shot 37.8 percent from three-point range, making 59 three-pointers, and averaged 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the Mocs, and was also a two-time All-Gulf South Conference selection.

Bolden played previously at McNeese State and Southern Miss, where he started 30 games as a freshman and was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team.

"We are extremely excited about the addition of Rashad Bolden to our program," said Shulman. "From our time at Alabama-Huntsville, we knew that Rashad was an unbelievable competitor and a great fit for what we are building. Along with his ability to score the basketball, Rashad also has a great gift of passing the ball as well as playing with amazing toughness.

"Finding coaches' kids is something that we look for as well, as his father Randy is a long-time college coach. Rashad also possesses Division I experience from his time at Southern Mississippi and McNeese. The amount of experience he has was very appealing to us in the recruiting process.

"We know Rashad had "bigger" options, but at the end of the day relationships still matter. He trusts that we believe in him, and we know that he believes in what we are doing here.  We can't wait for what Rashad brings to our program."
