CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas team is back at Farris Field at Natalie Shock Stadium to host the Milisa Moore/Shane Lamb Memorial Tournament from Friday to Sunday, hosting Illinois State and Omaha.
Game times on Friday for the Bears are at 2:30 and 5 p.m. Saturday's games have been moved up an hour, to 1:30 and 4 p.m. Central Arkansas and Illinois State play one more game on Sunday at noon.
The Bears (8-11) have seen most of their success at home, including a 3-1 showing in the last home tournament. Central Arkansas split two midweeks on Monday and Wednesday, defeating Missouri State before dropping a narrow one to Memphis.
Addie Graham extended her hitting streak to ten games this week, the first Bear to reach a double-figure streak this season.
Graham, a freshman from Arlington, Tennessee, has been on a tear to start her first season in Purple and Gray, batting a team-best .377 with 23 hits and seven doubles. She currently has a top-20 average in the ASUN, and her seven doubles rank fourth in the conference.
Kylie Griffin also continues to swing a good bat, holding a .369 average with a team-best 24 runs. Griffin has still only one strikeout to her name, the second-fewest of any ASUN player with at least 65 at bats.
The Bears welcome in Illinois State and Omaha this weekend, playing a seven-game tournament with the Redbirds and the Mavs. Illinois State brings in a 5-13 record, having most recently dropped three of four at the Middle Tennessee State Classic last weekend and then fell 7-2 to Ohio on Sunday.
This season, Adisyn Hopkins leads the team with a .310 batting average, at the top of a roster with a .215 average and 39 total runs. In the circle, the pitching staff is battling, with a 3.08 ERA and seven complete games between four pitchers. Hannah Meshnick leads the team with a 2.71 ERA and 20 strikeouts, allowing just a .257 batting average.
Omaha has been on a tear to start the year, with a 14-4 record heading into Conway. The Mavericks took three games at the Louisville Slugger Invitational in Long Beach, California, winning games against Pitt, Cal Poly and Utah Tech.
And while the offense has been impressive, with a .301 team batting average and 110 runs scored in 18 games, the Mavericks have paired it with a great defense, giving up 47 runs. The Mavs have benefited from a pair of sisters transferring in, Maddia and Rylinn Groff. Maddia, a pitcher, has a 1.35 ERA with 84 strikeouts in 52.0 innings, and has four total shutouts. Rylinn, a catcher, hits .347 with 17 hits this season. She also leads the team in HBPs, taking five free bases getting hit by pitches.
