CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears committed an uncharacteristic four errors on Wednesday night and they led to a 12-2 loss to the Arkansas State Red Wolves in non-conference action at Bear Stadium.
The Bears allowed three runs in the top of the first inning on two hits and two errors, but came back and cut the deficit to 3-2 in the second inning. Senior catcher
Casey Shipley hit his third home run of the season to lead off the inning. Senior right fielder
Preston Curtis doubled to left center and junior shortstop
Noah Goodshield brought him with a RBI single.
But the Red Wolves (11-13) would score the next nine runs, pounding out 13 hits on the night. UCA finished with seven hits fro seven different players. The Bears used seven pitchers, with both junior
Charlie Christensen and redshirt freshman
Jake Jones striking out three.
The Bears return to Atlantic Sun Conference action at home, and finish up their eight-game home stand, with three games against Eastern Kentucky. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Bears and Red Wolves will hook up again next Tuesday in Jonesboro, with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
