Sugar Bears Return to Louisiana to Face Lady Techsters

CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas women's basketball team is back on the road for the third of four-straight to end non-conference play. The Sugar Bears are at Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, playing the Lady Techsters at 6:30 p.m. in Ruston, Louisiana.

The Sugar Bears (7-3) got back in the win column last time out at Grambling State, taking an 82-75 win over the Tigers on Saturday. Jenna Cook led the team with 16 points in her first-career start, hitting three three-pointers and adding a pair of rebounds and a pair of steals. Cheyanne Kemp added 15, while Bree Stephens and Shae Littleford each tallied 13.

The win over the Tigers was an important one for the Sugar Bears; Central Arkansas hasn't been in a ton of close games this season, but the few so far this year haven't ended in its favor. With the clutch=time win over Grambling St., the Sugar Bears have now seen the type of execution on both ends necessary to win a close game. Saturday's victory also marked six in seven games for Central Arkansas, and the team still has just one loss outside of the SEC.

Similar to Grambling, Louisiana Tech is an opponent that Central Arkansas hasn't seen in quite some time. The last time these teams met was 2012, a game in which Megan Herbert led the way with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Louisiana Tech is 5-4 to start the year, having last played at No. 5 LSU. The Lady Techsters became the first team this season to hold the Tigers under 90 points, and even led after the first quarter. Paris Bradley led the way with 19 points on 11 shots, hitting four three-pointers, and Jianna Morris (11 points) and Jordan Marshall (10 points) also scored in double-figures.

Marshall leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.1 points and 9.7 boards per game. She has seven games of double-digit scoring and three games with double-figure rebounds, including season-highs of 20 points and 18 rebounds.

Tip-off against Louisiana Tech is set for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online. Fans can also follow the game at 91.3 The Bear, with Steve Owens on the call.
