CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears return to the Prince Center for a pivotal ASUN weekend, hosting
Florida Gulf Coast on
Friday, October 10 at 6 p.m., followed by
Stetson on
Sunday, October 12 at 1 p.m. UCA enters the weekend with a
7–7 overall record and a perfect
4–0 mark in conference play, riding the momentum of a four-match winning streak.
The Sugar Bears have found their rhythm in conference play, powered by a balanced offensive attack and strong net defense.
-
Laci Bohannan leads the team with 153 kills, while Gabby Tuiaana follows closely with 128.
-
Setter Caylan Koons continues to pace the offense with over 400 assists this season, averaging more than 10 per set during conference play.
-
Defensively, Alexis McDaniel anchors the back row with 209 digs, while McKinzee Haas leads the blocking unit with 56 total blocks.
UCA's defensive presence has been a difference-maker — the Bears are averaging 2.3 blocks per set, outpacing opponents' 1.9.
Friday, Oct. 10 – Florida Gulf Coast (FGCU)
FGCU enters the weekend as one of the ASUN's perennial power programs, known for its speed and attacking depth. The Sugar Bears will look to control the net and maintain serving pressure to keep the Eagles out of system.
Key to success will be first-ball contact and converting in transition — an area where UCA has steadily improved throughout conference play.
A win over FGCU would be another statement for UCA, solidifying their position near the top of the ASUN standings.
Sunday, Oct. 12 – Stetson
The weekend concludes with a Sunday showdown against Stetson, a team that thrives on defensive scrappiness and long rallies. UCA will look to set the tone early with aggressive serving and clean execution on offense.
Depth could be key as the Bears close the two-match stretch — expect multiple attackers to factor into the scoring.
With both matches on home court, UCA will rely on the energy of the Prince Center crowd to continue their strong start in ASUN competition.
