Bears Fall at Lipscomb

Nashville, Tenn. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team ended a two-game road trip at Lipscomb on Sunday, dropping a 2-0 final against the Bisons.

The Bears (4-8-2, 1-4-2 ASUN) fell to Lipscomb after giving up a couple of early scores, and despite getting some chances late, couldn't repeat last season's result in Nashville.

Lipscomb came out looking for blood early, putting its first shot on goal up just six minutes into the match. A few minutes later, on a corner kick, Lipscomb tallied its first goal, scoring in the 14th to take an early lead. On the ensuing kickoff, the Bears drove quickly down into the right corner of their offensive third, but a quick counter by Lipscomb caught the Bears in a bad spot, and the counterattack yielded a second goal.

Central Arkansas put some fresh legs in to mix things up, and soon, it presented Caroline Billings with a shot in the 23rd, but her attempt missed the frame. The Bears couldn't score on the ensuing corner kick, but the Bears seemed to have some life to them. But neither team was able to generate much offense down the stretch of the first half, and the teams went to the break with a 2-0 differential.

The Bisons came out in the second like they did in the first, putting a ton of pressure on the Central Arkansas defense. But the Bears were able to hold, walling up against several shots and corner kicks in the early minutes of the second half. The Bears sought to cut the lead on the counterattack, resulting in shots from Kayla Hurley and Megan Moudy, but the visitors couldn't find the back of the net.

An injury in the middle of the second half allowed both teams to regroup and tinker with play styles, and after play resumed, the Bears were starting to see some offense. Over the final 15 minutes, the Bears outshot the Bisons 6-0, putting three of them on target, but the Lipscomb defense held until the final whistle.

Central Arkansas returns home for the final three games of the season, playing Bellarmine next. Kickoff on Thursday, October 16th is set for 7 p.m.
