CONWAY, Ark. – Hosting one more at home this weekend, the Central Arkansas women's soccer team will welcome UTSA to Conway on Sunday. The Bears and Roadrunners will kickoff at 1 p.m. at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.
The Bears (0-4) suffered heartbreak last time out, giving up a pair of late goals to Little Rock to break a 0-0 tie. It snapped a seven-game unbeaten streak against the Trojans, and continued a stretch of offensive struggles for the team.
Central Arkansas continues to be a team that, when the Bears find shots, are good looks, with over 58 percent being on frame. But the Bears this season have found significantly fewer shots than their opponents, shooting six times compared to nearly 17 by their opponents.
Sunday will be a tough test for Central Arkansas, as UTSA comes to town with a 4-2 record, with a win over Colorado State last Sunday. The 1-0 win was capitalized by a score from Tyler Coker in the 50
th minute, which carried the Roadrunners to the win.
The Roadrunners are an aggressive offensive team, taking 17 shots per game and putting just over half of them on target. But six games into the season, UTSA only has six total goals, scoring on average just once per match. All six goals have been scored by different players, and the team has seven assists on those six scores.
Sunday's match is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live stats available online.
