Sugar Bears head to North Florida for their Second ASUN Showdown

Conway, Ark. - The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears are set to take on the North Florida Ospreys in their second ASUN conference match of the season. The Sugar Bears (4-8 overall, 1-0 ASUN) will look to continue their winning momentum after a strong start to conference play. Despite a challenging non-conference schedule, the Sugar Bears have shown resilience and improvement in various aspects of their game, particularly in their recent victory.

Key Players to Watch
Laci Bohannan has been a standout performer for the Sugar Bears, leading the team with 107 kills, averaging 3.34 kills per set, and contributing significantly on defense with 70 digs. Her offensive prowess, coupled with her all-around performance, will be crucial for Central Arkansas.

Regan Harp and Mackenzie Vernon have also been key contributors on offense, with 96 and 106 kills, respectively. Harp has a steady average of 2.59 kills per set, while Vernon follows closely with 2.94 kills per set. Their consistency and ability to execute under pressure will be essential in breaking through North Florida's defense.

Caylan Koons has been the backbone of the Sugar Bears' attack, dishing out 388 assists at a remarkable 9.46 assists per set. Her playmaking abilities will be pivotal in setting up her hitters against a formidable North Florida block.

Defensive Strength
Defensively, Central Arkansas has been solid, averaging 14.54 digs per set, led by Alexis McDaniel with 166 digs and an impressive 4.05 digs per set. The Sugar Bears will rely on their defensive organization and McDaniel's back-row leadership to counter the Ospreys' offensive threats.

Blocking has also been a strength for the Sugar Bears, with Allison Holloway and Greyson Button combining for 31 total blocks each. Their presence at the net will be crucial in disrupting the Ospreys' rhythm and preventing easy points.

Matchup Dynamics
Central Arkansas will need to minimize their attack errors, which have been an issue in earlier matches, as they currently have 250 errors compared to North Florida's 205. Improving their attack efficiency and maintaining pressure through consistent serving will be key factors for the Sugar Bears to secure a win. Additionally, they will need to elevate their block game, as North Florida averages more blocks per set (2.2) compared to Central Arkansas (1.8).
