CONWAY, Ark. – After a successful start to the ASUN schedule, senior midfielder
Kelly Van Gundy was named the ASUN Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Van Gundy led the Bears to a 2-0 start to conference play, with wins over Queens and West Georgia. The junior tallied goals in both matches, helping the Bears overcome a 2-0 deficit against Queens before putting home the game-winner against the Wolves.
With two goals last week, Van Gundy is on a three-game goal-scoring streak, with all three games being wins. The midfielder helped the Bears start 2-0 in the ASUN for the second-straight year, with last year's squad finishing second in the league standings.
The Bears stay on the road for the next pair of matches, making their way through Tennessee to face Lipscomb and Austin Peay. Central Arkansas faces Lipscomb at 6 p.m. on Thursday before battling Austin Peay at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
