DOTHAN, Ala. – Rounding out a third and final 18 holes on Tuesday, the Central Arkansas men's golf team finished in second place after 54 holes. The Bears had three in the top-10, earning their best finish since joining the ASUN, with a team score of 865.
"There were many positives this week, we had a total team effort and have really made some improvements in the last month of the season," Head coach Jay Rees said of the finish. "We were the sixth seed and finished runner up, that's pretty special. We've got some great young men on this team, and we're excited about our future."
Palmer McSpadden and
Mark Stockdale finished tied for seventh, both finishing with an even 216. McSpadden played his best round of golf on Tuesday, pocketing five birdies en route to a 3-under 69, his best round of the tournament. Stockdale had six birdies, finishing off an even 72 for his third round. He finished with 14 total birdies, the fourth-most in the entire tournament.
Zach Little finished just a stroke behind his teammates at a 1-over 217. The freshman tallied a 1-under 71 on Tuesday, sinking four birdies across his final 18 holes. The three top-10 finishers are a first for the Bears, who had never had a single top-10 finisher, let alone three.
Luke Sienkiewicz had his best round on Tuesday, finishing a 2-under 70 to move up the rankings. He had six birdies in his final round, and finished with a three-round score of 225.
Harrison Arnold capped his tournament run with a 78, landing him at a three-day score of 225 after sinking a birdie on nine.
Lipscomb held onto first place through the final round, with the Bears in second place. Central Arkansas finished four strokes above North Florida. Will Holan of Lipscomb claimed the individual medal after a three-man playoff, beating FGCU's Joe Sullivan and his own teammate Ford Goldasich.
