CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas beach team wrapped up its regular season and first home tournament in two years on Saturday afternoon. UCA will head into the ASUN tournament down in Florida with an 8-23 record.
UCA 1 – Missouri State 4
The Beach Bears fared a little better than Friday's Battle with Missouri State, but the Bears in Maroon still left the court on top. Two of UCA's seniors that were honored after the match came through like the have throughout the entire season, winning 21-13 in the first set and 21-18 in the second for a dominant victory. Anna Linskey and Naya Tan were close to forcing a third set, but ultimately fell 23-21 in set two. Missouri State was able to even the all time series at 2-2.
UCA 2 – Austin Peay 3
The Bears found themselves in a similar situation to the day prior against the Govs, but this time it was Austin Peay that found a way on Saturday afternoon. Freshmen Liliana Irizary and Ella Weilert broke through with a dominant victory for UCA's No. 4 team, winning 21-8 in the first and then closing it out with a 21-11 win in the second. Sproule and Collums followed up their morning win with another big win, this time in three sets, capturing the first set, 21-13, and closing out the third with a 15-10 win. Linskey and Tan were close to forcing a third set that would have decided the match, but ultimately they fell 21-19 in the second set. Austin Peay dug back into the all time series, getting back to within two games at 6-4, and broke up what would have been a three match winning streak for the Bears.
UCA's next action will come in the ASUN tournament in DeLand, Florida from Wednesday, April 24th to Saturday, April 27th.
