CONWAY, Ark. – On the field for their first midweek of the season, the Central Arkansas Bears fell flat against the FAU Owls. The softball team fell behind early, and just didn't have enough in the bag to get back into it.

The loss drops Central Arkansas to 6-13 on the season, and 4-5 at home.
Gracie St. Hilaire drove in the lone run in the 13-1 loss, and the top of the order had the other three hits in the game for the Bears.

FAU jumped out in the first inning, pairing a walk with a single up the middle that carried deep to center field to start the game up 1-0. Central Arkansas was unable to answer in the home half of the frame, and the Owls took advantage, scoring four in each of the next two innings.

Central Arkansas finally found a run in the fourth inning.
Colleen Bare took a pitch off the arm to go to first base, establishing a baserunner. Then St. Hilaire battled to a full count before rocketing one down the right line, putting the ball all the way in the back corner. Bare was able to score from first, and St. Hilaire ended up on third for her first triple of the year.

Florida Atlantic added three more runs in the top of the fifth, which the Bears couldn't answer. Central Arkansas is back at home this weekend, hosting the Milisa Moore Tournament. Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin will come to Conway for a six-game weekend, starting on Saturday at 10 a.m. The Bears' first game is the second game on Saturday, starting around 2:30 p.m.
