DOLPHINS DOWN BEARS IN RUN-RULE GAME

CONWAY, Ark. _ The Jacksonville Dolphins scored a combined eight runs in the first three innings Friday and never looked back in downing the University of Central Arkansas Bears 15-1 in seven innings in Game 2 of their ASUN series at Bear Stadium.

The first-place Dolphins pounded out 15 hits and scored in six of the seven innings. UCA managed just three hits off Jacksonville pitcher Richard Long, who went the distance, striking out three and walking three.

UCA's lone run came in the fifth inning when right fielder Kade Seldomridge walked to lead off the inning, went to third on Mason King's double to left center and scored on A.J. Mendolia's sacrifice fly to center field. Center fielder Drew Sturgeon has UCA's other base hit.

The Bears used five pitchers and all but reliever Gavin Alveti allowed at least one run. UCA issued 10 walks, including three consecutive to open the game.

The series finale is set for 11 a.m. Saturday to accommodate Jacksonville's travel schedule.
