CONWAY, Ark. _ A two-run home run in the eighth inning proved to be the difference as the Eastern Kentucky Colonels downed the University of Central Arkansas Bears 5-3 on Sunday in their ASUN series finale at Bear Stadium.
The home run, EKU's third of the day, broke a 3-3 tie. The Bears loaded the bases in the ninth inning but did not score. The Colonels (4-16, 2-1) had 10 hits, including two each from four different players.Â
The Bears (8-12, 1-2) finished with seven hits, including two apiece by center fielder
Drew Sturgeon and right fielder
Kade Seldomridge.Â
UCA scored first in the opening inning on an RBI double by designated hitter

A.J. Mendolia. After EKU took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third, UCA tied it in the bottom on an error and a sacrifice bunt by Seldomridge.
EKU tied it back up in the 7th with a home run by D.J. Sulivan, then took the lead for good in the eighth.
UCA starter, sophomore
Charlie Christensen, went 7 1/3 innings, striking out five and walking one and allowing four runs. EKU's Garrett Langrell pitched the final 2 1/3 innings for the win.
UCA plays at UL-Monroe at 6 p.m. Tuesday before hitting the road for its first road ASUN series next weekend at North Florida in Jacksonville.
