Bears Head to Stillwater to Face Cowgirls

CONWAY, Ark. – On the road for the first time since February 18th, the Central Arkansas softball team heads to Stillwater, Okla., to take on Oklahoma State. First pitch against the Cowgirls is set for 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium.

Central Arkansas (8-15) picked up another pair of wins this weekend in the Milisa Moore Tournament, defeating Stephen F. Austin twice. For the weekend, Kylie Griffin batted .750, earning her first ASUN Player of the Week award. The junior third baseman kept the offense humming, going 6-for-6 on Saturday, raising her batting average over .400 on the year. Now in 23 games, she's batting .418 and leads the team in hits (28) runs (16) and on base percentage (.494).

Morgan Nelson also got going against the Lumberjacks, hitting 4-of-6 against SFA. The senior connected on three doubles and a home run over the weekend, and now leads the team with seven doubles and 24 RBI.

Also against the Lumberjacks, Julia Petty tossed the team's first shutout, going seven innings and striking out five. The junior transfer swept through the lineup, scattering four hits and walking three.

Oklahoma State (20-3) opened Big 12 play last weekend, taking its opening series against Baylor. The Cowgirls won games one and three, needing extras in the series opener, but dropped game two. In total, the Cowgirls scored seven runs against the Bears, surrendering five across the series. Oklahoma State has run-ruled eight opponents, and gone to extras twice.

The Cowgirls have two batters hitting above .400, led by Claire Timm's .418 and Rosie Davis's .417. After that, five other players that see consistent plate appearances hit over .300. Every batter in the lineup is dangerous, as 12 players have at least one home run this year, and six have a triple. In the circle, Lexi Kilfoyl holds a 0.77 ERA, allowing just six earned runs in 54.1 innings. She has 47 strikeouts on the year, and has been a part of six shutouts.

First pitch against the Cowgirls is set for 6 p.m. in Stillwater. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available online.
