JACKSONVILLE, Fla. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears will try to build off a solid defensive performance on Thursday when they close out their Florida road trip with a matchup with North Florida on Saturday.
The Bears and Ospreys will meet at 1 p.m. (CST) at UNF Arena in just the third game between the teams.
UNF (13-12, 6-4) has lost three of its last four games, including a 79-74 home loss against North Alabama on Thursday night. UCA (7-18, 4-6) fell 59-55 at Jacksonville on Thursday, holding the Dolphins 14 points below their scoring average. Freshman guard
Javion Guy-King got his first start for the Bears, who played without two key players due to illness (
Ibbe Klintman, Carl Daughtery, Jr.).
Guy-King scored a career-high 16 points and was 7 of 8 at the free-throw line.
The Bears won last year's lone meeting with the Ospreys in overtime in Conway, winning 88-85 at the Farris Center.
Camren Hunter scored 24 points for the Bears, who made just 4 of 22 (18.2 percent) from three-point range but pulled down a season-high 21 offensive rebounds. Hunter had 12 boards and
Eddy Kayouloud had 10 to go along with his 19 points.
UNF's Carter Hendrickson led all scorers with 32 points, including an 11-of-14 performance at the free-throw line.
The Bears are sitting in a four-way tie for seventh place in the ASUN standings with six regular-season games remaining. The Ospreys are in a three-way tie for third place.
