LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Central Arkansas men's golf team played its best round on Wednesday, rounding out the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate. Four Bears improved their standings before the end of round three.
"I thought there were some great positives today, all four counting scores were under par," head coach Jay Rees said after Wednesday's play. "Our guys' expectations are very high, and what held us back this week was too many three-putts. We eliminate our three-putts, and we're at the top of the leaderboard!"
Harrison Arnold played his second round under par, adding three birdies to his tally en route to a 1-under 71. Arnold finished with 13 birdies and an eagle to finish in the top-25 with a 2-under 214.
Luke Sienkiewicz scored six birdies on Wednesday, including four on the back nine. He turned in an even 216 after 54 holes.
Mark Stockdale had his best round on Wednesday, shooting a 3-under 69 after pocketing six birdies. He vaulted up the leaderboards in round three with a final score of 1-over 217.
Palmer McSpadden had himself a day, scoring a 2-under 70 on his final 18 holes. His final score in Las Vegas was 220 after ending on a good note.
Zach Little recovered on Wednesday tallying an eagle and two birdies to put his best score down, an even 72. He rounded out a 226 for his three-round score after playing his best 18.
"We will continue working on our putting and continued scoring to get ready for Arizona's tournament over spring break." Rees added.
VCU was 11-under on the day to move up into first place, edging past South Florida by two strokes. Long Beach State and Arkansas State finished tied for third. South Florida's Jake Peacock took home the individual medal, finishing a stroke ahead of Kansas City's Maxence Mugnier. VCU's Veikka Viskari finished in third place after a 3-under third round.
