RICHMOND, Ky. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears had three players in double figures Saturday afternoon but it was not enough against the top team in the ASUN Conference.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels improved to 12-2 in league play with a 95-82 victory over the Bears at Baptist Health Arena. The Colonels are now 13-3 at home on the season.
UCA made 11 three-pointers on the day and went 15 of 16 (93.8 percent) at the free-throw line but could not overcome 23 fouls that sent the Colonels to the free-throw line 26 times. UCA lost starter center Glory Etim to fouls after just 14 minutes of action.
That loss helped EKU center Isaiah Cozart score 22 points and pull down 17 rebounds. Tayshawn Comer also had 22 points for EKU, hitting 8 of 11 from the field and 3 of 5 from three-point range.Â
UCA was led by sophomore Carl Daughtery, Jr., with 20 points. Junior
Elias Cato was 3 of 5 from three-point range and added 19 points, while freshman
Tucker Anderson finished with 18 points, also connected on 3 of 5 from the arc.
The Bears were out-rebounded 45-31. EKU also made 11 three-pointers and pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
UCA closes out the regular season at home on Friday night on Senior Night against North Alabama, still with a shot at making the ASUN Tournament field.Â
