HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team fell twice against some extremely talented programs on Saturday morning and afternoon. Unfortunately, the Beach Bears come out the gates at an 0-4 record in two straight seasons, however the Bears have faced top talent in both of those starts.
UCA 0 – LSU 5
The Beach Bears once again came short against the Bayou Bengals, getting swept in Saturday's morning match. In all five matchups all-time between the two teams, the Bears have not taken a set in any of them. Much like yesterday, the pair of freshman Audrey Cathcart and sophomore Madelyn White made it tight in the first set, but the Tigers were just too much in the second set. Naya Tan and Anna Linskey were also in a similar situation, but once again LSU emerged victorious in the later set.
UCA 0 – Washington 5
Saturday afternoon marked the first ever matchup between the Bears and Huskies, and the Huskies greeted the Bears with a knockout punch, unfortunately. The duo of White and Cathcart continued to play well together however, winning the second set 23-21 before dropping a close third set 15-13.
The Bears will gear up and head south to Baton Rouge, Louisiana next weekend. While the Bears will not play LSU again, they are slated to face off against the likes of Tulane, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Nebraska, and Southern Miss between Saturday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 3rd.
