LOUISVILLE, Ky. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears are still in the hunt for an ASUN Conference Tournament berth and will have two chances on the road this week to improve their position.

The Bears (9-20, 5-8) will take on the Bellarmine Knights at 5:30 (CST) Thursday from Freedom Hall. From there, UCA will travel just down the road to take on league-leader Eastern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears currently sit in a three-way tie for eighth place in the ASUN standings, with the top 10 teams making up the tournament field. UCA finishes the season on Friday, March 1 at home against North Alabama. The Bears are 2-1 this season against their three remaining opponents, with victories over Bellarmine (59-57) at the Farris Center and North Alabama (84-81) in Florence, Ala.

In the first meeting, both teams had four players in double figures. UCA was led by sophomore Carl Daughtery, Jr. with 17 points. The Bears made just six three-pointers but the Knights only connected seven times. The game was as even as the final score would indicate, with 7 lead changes and 11 ties. The largest lead by either team was five points (once each) and both teams had single-digit turnovers.

The Knights (6-21, 2-10) have lost four consecutive games, and 14 of their past 16. However, earlier in the season Bellarmine had close losses against Kansas State, West Virginia and Louisville. Four of their six victories have come at home at historic Freedom Hall.

The game will be carried lived on 92.7 Jack FM and ESPN+.
