Caleb Koger was named the Co-Freshman of the Week by the United Athletic Conference on Monday.
Koger, a 5-foot-11, 175-pounder from Katy, Texas, made his first career start Saturday against Southern Utah and helped the Bears to 498 yards of total offense in a 38-31 loss at First Security Field at Estes Stadium. Koger completed 21 of 34 passes (61.7 percent) for 269 yards and four touchdowns.
Koger had touchdown passes of 38, 6, 12 and 79 yards against the Thunderbirds. Koger saw the first action of his career the previous week, subbing for injured quarterbacks

Koger shared the award with Marcus Calwise, Jr., of Eastern Kentucky.
The Bears close the season at Tarleton State at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stephenville, Texas.
