The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears battled their way to a narrow 3-2 victory over the Lipscomb Bisons, marking a dramatic win in the ASUN Conference showdown. The match scores were 13-25, 25-20, 25-23, 14-25, and 15-8, reflecting a back-and-forth struggle between two evenly matched teams.
Central Arkansas' offense was led by
Mackenzie Vernon, who delivered a standout performance with 22 kills, hitting at a .359 clip.
Laci Bohannan also made a significant impact, contributing 19 kills with a .319 hitting percentage, and adding 8 digs. Setter
Caylan Koons orchestrated the Sugar Bears' attack efficiently, amassing 46 assists while also recording 5 digs.
Despite Lipscomb's strong start, the Sugar Bears turned the tide in the second and third sets, showcasing their resilience. The Bisons were paced by Meg Mersman and Karlie McNabb, each recording 14 kills. Mersman hit an impressive .571 while McNabb tallied 5 digs. Addi Pelham also contributed 12 kills for Lipscomb with a .450 hitting percentage, but it wasn't enough to keep the Sugar Bears at bay.
