Women's Golf Opens 2023 with First Round Action at Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The 2023 season opened for the Central Arkansas women's golf team, who finished day one of the Golfweek Fall Challenge in seventh place out of 18 teams. With three golfers in the top-25, the Bears regrouped and moved up the chain after a rain delay during Sunday's play.

Ayami Takahashi finished Sunday in 11th place, tallying a pair of birdies to close the front and back nine to stay within arm's reach of the top. Her 1-over 72 was followed closely by Madison Holmes and Valeria Ramirez, both of whom shot a 73. Holmes also collected a pair of birdies, and Ramirez added three-straight from 14 to 16.

Pim-Orn Thitisup also finished Sunday with two birdies, rounding out a 5-over 76 after 18 holes. Camila Moreno ended her first round a stroke behind Thitisup, one of four Bears with two birdies on Sunday.

Lipscomb finished the day in first place, with UNCW and Charleston Southern rounding out the top-three. Individually, Lipscomb's Lauren Thompson finished in the top spot after Sunday's round. She was followed by Charleston Southern's Caroline Engelbredt and Richmond's Hannah Lydic.

The Bears have two more rounds of golf to play in the Golfweek Fall Classic, to be played on Monday and Tuesday.
