CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Day two of the Chattanooga Classic saw the women's golf team move up three spots in the standings after an 18-stroke improvement on day two. Four Bears saw their own stock rise in round two, including leader
Elin Kumlin, who rose into the top-20 on Monday.
The senior shot a 1-over 73 to move up four spots from yesterday, ending with a two-round score of 148. Kumlin added five birdies in round two, bringing her event total to eight.
Valeria Ramirez scored an even 72 in her second round, the best among the Bears. Her three birdies helped her to a two-day score of 152, as well as a 28-spot jump in the standings, the second-biggest jump by anyone in the field.
Madison Holmes added two birdies in a 4-over 76, shooting for birdie on the par three fourth and 12
th holes.
Pear Rittawee also saw a rise in the standings on Monday, firing a 2-over 74 to climb 15 spots. Claiming birdies on four and five, the senior finished day two with a score of 154.
Tania Nunez turned in a 3-over 75 to cap a 158 after 36 holes of golf.
SMU held onto first place after a 3-under 285 on Monday. Augusta moved up one spot into second place, and Xavier jumped two spots into third. Individually, Xavier's Emma McMyler took first place after Monday's play. She is followed by SMU's Ellie Szeryk in second and Notre Dame's Lauren Beaudreau in third place.
The Bears will play one final round on Tuesday, finalizing the Chattanooga Classic. Tuesday will also mark the final day of competition for Central Arkansas before the ASUN Championships.
