BEARS DROP BOTH GAMES OF ASUN DH

CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears dropped both ends of Saturday's ASUN doubleheader at North Florida, losing 9-5 and 5-0 at Harmon Stadium.

The Bears ((16-19,7-8) won Friday's opener but could not get anything going in either game Saturday to lose the series 2-1. UCA rallied from an 8-1 deficit in Game 1 and scored four times in the eighth inning but could get no closer.

North Florida put up eight runs in the third inning to take control of the game. The Ospreys out-hit the Bears 12-7, while both teams had a pair of home runs. Senior right fielder Kolby Johnson hit his second of the series for the Bears and senior pinch hitter Dylan Cyr added one in the eighth.

In the nightcap, the Ospreys (19-16, 7-8) allowed just five hits and scored all the runs they would need in the first inning, going up 2-0. They added two more in the fifth and an insurance run in the eighth to take the series. Freshman left fielder Kade Seldomridge was the only UCA player with multiple hits, going 2 for 4.

UCA returns to action on Tuesday night at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark., taking on the fifth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The Bears return home to Bear Stadium next weekend, hosting the Stetson Hatters in a three-game ASUN series.
