Clarksville, Tenn. – The University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team leaves the Governor Beach Challenge with a win on Sunday over the UT Martin Skyhawks. The win takes the Bears to 3-8 and now have won back-to-back games ahead a trip to Stephen F. Austin next weekend.
UCA 3 UT Martin 2
As mentioned yesterday, momentum from a dominant win yesterday did in fact carry over for the Bears. UCA can finally get rolling this week with a scrimmage at the Beach Bear Sand Courts and then the challenge of Arizona and Stephen F. Austin looming next weekend.
Naturally for the Bears, this one would come down the wire. With the score knotted at two apiece, UCA's duo of Kayla Cook and Payton Sproule defeated the No. 3 pair of Kaufman and Vaughn for UT Martin in three sets, with the last set finishing with a score of 15-12.
Charlie Tidwell and Madelyn White got UCA on the board early, with two very close decisions to UTM's No. 5 pair, winning both by a score of 21-19. It was the pair's third win in a row, and they have been imperative to UCA's success over the course of the season so far. Later it was Ryenne Gepford and Bria Garmon getting their second straight win. The Bears now move to 7-0 all-time against the Skyhawks, and funny enough, March 11th of 2022, the Bears beat the Skyhawks 3-2 also.
UCA will host an intrasquad scrimmage at the Beach Bear Sand Courts Wednesday, March 22nd at 2:00 p.m. Then the Bears will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas on Friday, March 24th to take on Arizona at 9:00 a.m. and Stephen F. Austin at 11:00 a.m.
