Clarksville, Tenn. – The University of Central Arkansas beach volleyball team split a pair of matches in chilly Clarkville. After Friday's action, the Bears are 2-8 on the year, but played much better after having the prior weekend off.
UCA 2 Austin Peay 3
UCA looked much more competitive this weekend, but were unable to hold a 2-0 lead as the Govs took the first match of the weekend in comeback fashion.
Marissa Gilmore and
Anna Linskey took down the No. 4 pair of Seyring and Wheat for the Govs, in what ended up being two close matches. This was the first win for the pair since March 4
th against Southeastern Louisiana in Baton Rouge. The pairing of
Charlie Tidwell and
Madelyn White took down the No. 5 tandem for Austin Peay. White and Tidwell have played well together over the past few weekends.
UCA 5 Lindenwood 0
Whether this performance will carry on to tomorrow remains to be seen, but UCA needed to break through and see their efforts pay off in a big way. UCA's second win of the season came in dominant fashion.
Payton Sproule and
Kayla Cook got an absolutely dominant win over the No. 3 team of Schade and Llorens of Lindenwood. As a matter of fact, the only match that went to three sets was Gilmore Linskey.
UCA will wrap things up in Clarksville on Saturday, March 18
th at 12:00 p.m. against UT Martin.
