DELAND, Fla. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears continue their Florida road swing with a matchup with the Stetson Hatters at 1 p.m. (CT) Saturday at the Edmunds Center.
UCA is coming off a 91-87 victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night in Fort Myers, Fla. They made the 4-hour trek north to Deland, Fla., on Friday to take on the Hatters for the third time in two seasons.
The Bears lead the series 2-0 after a regular-season win last year and a first-round ASUN Tournament victory. Both of those games were played at the Farris Center in Conway and both went down to the wire. UCA won the first meeting 79-75 on Feb. 5 and then took the tournament game 74-73 on March 1. UCA lost at Jacksonville in the second round of its first ASUN Tournament.
The Bears have won two road conference games this season, at Queens and at FGCU. Stetson, 12-10 overall and 7-4 in league play, is 6-1 at home this season, However, the Hatters are just 2-4 in their past six games, including Thursday's big 79-57 victory over North Alabama at the Edmunds Center.
UCA's lone senior
Eddy Kayouloud had his 10th career double-double against FGCU with 32 points and 11 rebounds. It was his second-best game of his career, with the first coming against FGCU last season when he had 34 points and 17 rebounds.
Sophomore point guard
Camren Hunter leads the Bears in scoring at 17.2 points per game and handed out 10 assists in Thursday night's win. Stetson is led by Jalen Blackmon at 13.7 points per game. Stetson is one of the top perimeter teams in the league, leading the ASU in three-point percentage at 38.8 percent and in second place in three-pointers made per game at 10.2.Â
