NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team ended its season with a 4-0 loss in the ASUN Semifinals Monday night, falling to the reigning champion Lipscomb.
The loss dropped the Bears to a final record of 4-9-4, having been outshot by the Bisons 24-9. Central Arkansas looked solid in the opening portion of the match, with
Tajio James putting the first shot on target less than 90 seconds into play. James was aggressive early on in the game, putting three shots up, with two on target, in the first 20 minutes. He combined with
Devonte Richards in the 19
th to put back-to-back shots on target, but somehow the Lipscomb keeper was able to stay in front of both.
Lipscomb was able to counter with a goal seven minutes later, opening the scoring before the 30
th minute. The Bears tried to battle back to even the score before the half, but were only able to muster one more shot before the break. Central Arkansas was outshot 12-5 over the first 45 minutes, but outshot the Bisons before the first score.
Central Arkansas looked to make halftime adjustments to get back into it, but it was Lipscomb who came out swinging, scoring in the 53
rd minute to extend the lead. Down a man after the 60
th, the task became that much more difficult with ten men on the field. Lipscomb extended the lead shortly after the Bear was sent off, effectively putting the game out of reach.
The Bears end the season having reached the semifinals for the third-straight season, nearing a conference championship again after joining the ASUN in 2021.
