Women's Golf Claims Team Championship at The Judson

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Battling through the elements to complete one final round on Tuesday, the Central Arkansas women's golf team captured first place at The Judson. The Bears shot an 875 over three rounds, winning by five strokes over the host, Southern Miss. It marks the first team victory for first-year head coach Summar Roachell, and gives the Bears a win in four-straight seasons.

"I'm so proud of the fight from our team this week. The conditions were not ideal but they trusted the game plan and brought an incredible attitude," Roachell said of the team. "They deserve all the credit. They have been completely bought in since day one and I am so happy that all of their hard work paid off this week."

Pim-Orn Thitisup led the way after a 2-under 70 on Tuesday. The senior posted back-to-back rounds under par to move up into fifth place, a season-best. After scoring a birdie on her first hole of the day, Thitisup never looked back, collecting five on the day and bringing her three-round total to 12, which was the most of any golfer. Madison Holmes also broke into the single-digits, moving up to ninth with a third-day score of 73. She ended her third round with six total birdies, but led the entire field with 40 pars.

Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir held on for a top-15 finish, rounding out a 4-over 220. She added one final birdie on Tuesday to bring her 54-hole total to 10 birdies. She was one of 13 golfers to tally 10-plus birdies. Valeria Ramirez was one stroke behind Thorsteinsdottir, adding two birdies for a 2-over 74 for her third round. The sophomore was 1-under on the back nine, helping her to a 16th-palce finish. Ayami Takahashi battled her way to a 6-over 78, turning in a three-round score of 231.

The Bears won by five strokes after wrapping up Tuesday's play, breaking the tie with Southern Miss for the top spot. Cincinnati moved up into third spot after playing the best round of the day, a 1-over 298. Tarleton's Lou Deltombe won the individual medal, with Cincinnati's Paola Rosario and Central Michigan's Ashley Goh finished in a tie for second. The three were the only players to finish under par.

Central Arkansas claimed a team title for the fourth-straight season, having won a tournament every year since 2020. It also marked the first for Roachell, who wrapped up her first fall as the program's head coach.

"I'll never forget my first win as a head coach, but to do it with this group is even more special," Roachell added. "Life is full of little moments, and this is one I'll always have with me."

The Bears now take a break as the weather changes, halting play until the spring. The next event on the schedule is set for early February, as the team heads to Roachell's old stomping grounds at UCF. For complete standings for The Judson, visit the Tournament Page.
