CONWAY, Ark. _ The Creighton Blue Jays hit a pair of home runs in the seventh inning to pull away from the University of Central Arkansas Bears on Thursday, winning 10-3 at Bear Stadium.
UCA (4-8) led 3-0 after two innings but Creighton (5-6) tied it with a single run in the third and two more in the sixth. The Blue Jays then got a two-run home run from Chris Esposito, followed by a three-run shot by Andrew Meggs to push the lead to 8-3. Two more runs in the eighth inning put the game out of reach.

Tyler Cleveland allowed just one unearned run and struck out three over five innings and left with a 3-1 lead. But the next five UCA pitchers allowed a combined nine runs, all earned, with
Jack Haley taking the loss.Â
The Bears, in the middle of a nine-game home stand, totaled just seven hits, with center fielder
Drew Sturgeon going 2 for 4 with a run scored. UCA's three runs in the second came on a solo home run by left fielder
Trey Harris, his second of the season, and RBIs from catcher
Noah Argenta and shortstop R.J. Pearson.
Creighton finished with 15 hits, including three each by Meggs and Esposito. Both also had three runs batted in.
UCA will host UT Martin at noon on Friday, face Creighton again at 3 p.m. Saturday and UT Martin again at 1 p.m. Sunday, weather permitting.
