NO. 18 TCU CRUISES PAST UCA

FORT WORTH, Texas _ The 18th-ranked team in the nation played like it on their home floor Wednesday as the TCU Horned Frogs downed the University of Central Arkansas Bears 103-57 at Schollmaier Arena.

The Horned Frogs, who improved to 11-1 with their eighth consecutive victory, shot 52.9 percent overall and held the Bears to just 29 percent. UCA finished the day 8 of 30 (26.7 percent) from three-point range.

One of the biggest differentials was transition points. TCU, ranked second in the nation in that statistic, outscored UCA 40-0 on fast-break points.

"(That is) one of the things we worked on since we got back together after Christmas, and the biggest thing we emphasized outside of rebounding... and we were one for two on those two things today,' said UCA head coach Anthony Boone. "We rebounded better but it was quite frustrating to see them getting transition baskets time after time."

That in part led to the Horned Frogs shooting a blistering 56 percent from the field in the first half, which allowed them to open up a 49-25 lead at halftime. The Bears were just 9 of 36 (25 percent) overall in the first half and made just 4 of 19 from three-point range. Senior Eddy Kayouloud scored 12 of UCA's points, connecting on four of five including a three-pointer.

The Bears were within 18-13 after an Elias Cato basket with 12:45 to play but the Horned Frogs outscored the Bears 31-12 the remainder of the half. Mike MIles and Emanuel Miller had 11 and 10 points, respectively, for TCU at the break.

Kayouloud picked up his fourth foul early in the second half and did not score again but still led the Bears with 14 points. True freshman Carl Daughtery Jr. came off the bench for 10 points, hitting 4 of 6 overall and 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. Redshirt freshman V.J. Reeves had 8 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.

UCA finished with 17 offensive rebounds and 15 second-chance points, topping TCU in both categories.

"We've been working on rebounding, and getting to the idea of just having more desire to rebound," Boone said. "It's not technique, it's not I'm going to hit a guy this way or get a certain angle, it's just I need to get and get the ball. And our guys really showed a lot more intensity and a lot more effort in that sense."

Miles' 21 points, including 11 of 13 at the free-throw line, topped the Horned Frogs, who returned all five starters from last season. Miller added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds as TCU finished with five in double figures.

UCA opens ASUN Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Kennesaw (Ga.) State. The Owls are 8-5 in their non-conference schedule. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. (CT) on Saturday.
