ATLANTA, Ga. – Central Arkansas setter Caylan Koon was announced to the 2022 ASUN All-Freshman team on Wednesday afternoon. Simply put, it was well deserved, as Koons was a leader on and off the court and won ASUN Freshman of the Week three times this season and took home ASUN Setter of the Week once as well.

It was apparent from the jump that Koons was destined to do great things this season at UCA as she tallied 140 assists in her first weekend in purple and gray. Koons started 21 of her 25 matches played this season and has led the Sugar Bear offense all season long. She leads the team with 857 assists, which puts her seventh in the ASUN.

Koons was also a huge part of the momentum shift that led to second half success for the Sugar Bears. Her 562 assists in conference games put her at eighth in the ASUN. Her biggest two game swing was arguably putting up 51 assists against in-state rival Little Rock and then putting up 56 assists against Eastern Kentucky to start a conference winning streak.

Coach John Newberry on the accomplishment from Koons: "This is very exciting for our program. Caylan has been an integral part to our success this year. Coming in as a freshman and starting as a setter in this conference is not an easy task. Caylan has been very coachable and works very hard. She has set a good foundation for us within the conference."
